Could there be no war?

Could there be no war? If any of Russia's demands were fulfilled, the Kremlin would not have started an aggressive war against Ukraine a year ago? This question still resonates in some circles. The current form of government and way of thinking in Russia necessitated a war of aggression against Ukraine, only history could have been different. I know people who blame Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the war. Allegedly, Zelensky irritated Putin with his policy, and the Kremlin owner Vladimir Putin, who was angry about this, ordered an attack. So what did the previous government of Ukraine do when Putin decided to annex Crimea in 2014? If Petro Poroshenko had won the last presidential election in Ukraine, Putin would not have given up on the invasion of Ukraine.

According to Putin, Russians and Ukrainians are the same nation, and therefore Ukrainians should not have preferred the policy of integration with the West against the will of the Russians. If the president of Ukraine was not Volodymyr Zelensky, but someone else, Kiev would not have refused to integrate into European economic and security institutions. Only former president Viktor Yanukovych refused to integrate into Europe, and he was overthrown by the people.
