Atlas Research Center

 

"Atlas" Research CenterIt was founded in Baku in 2003 by a group of political experts. The head of the center is political analyst Elkhan Sahinoglu.

Elkhan Sahinoglu has worked in the media for many years, and in the early 2000s he worked in the Baku offices of Turkey's TRT television and "Anadolu" agency. Elkhan Sahinoglu, who works in various newspapers and is a columnist, published articles on foreign policy issues, paid special attention to the Karabakh conflict, and followed the negotiations for 30 years. Elkhan Sahinoglu is the author of the books "Autonomy Models", "April Truce" and "Iron Fist" dedicated to the Karabakh issue. In 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and created a separatist region in Donbass, Elkhan Sahinoglu visited Kyiv many times and conducted research on this issue, followed the events that took place in Donetsk in the first months of the occupation. As a result of these observations and meetings, he wrote the book "From Maidan to Maidan" in Russian. Presentations of this book were held both in Baku and Kyiv. The head of the center met with various experts in Tehran and Tabriz in 2019 in order to investigate Iran-Azerbaijani relations and learned the opinions of Iranian parliamentarians on the subject. Based on the results of this visit and observations, the Center has prepared a comprehensive analysis. The politics of Iran and the situation in this country are the focus of "Atlas" Research Center.

Elkhan Sahinoglu visited these countries in different years on the topics of conflict resolution: USA (1999), Egypt (1999), Ukraine - Crimea (2000), Belgium - NATO (1998, 2002 and 2005), Lebanon (2001), Germany (2005), Georgia (1998, 2004, 2010), Armenia (1998, 2000).

The head of the "Atlas" Research Center was awarded the Baku office of the Helsinki Civic Assembly in 2002, the "Yeni Nesil" association and the Baku Office of the Human Rights Institute in 2005, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan in 2017 and 2022.

"Atlas" Research Center, founded by Elkhan Sahinoglu together with a group of experts, analyzes the main events in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus. One of the main research topics is Karabakh. In addition, "Atlas" Research Center studies Azerbaijan's relations with neighboring countries - Russia, Turkey, Iran, Georgia and Armenia. The center cooperates with political experts in neighboring countries and prepares analyzes based on the information it receives.

"Atlas" Research Center prepares weekly analytical reports and sends the bulletins to its subscribers via e-mail on the first day of the week. The center distributes its analytical reports in 4 languages - Azerbaijani, English, Turkish and Russian.

In addition to analytical reports, "Atlas" Research Center also prepares "policy papers" based on special orders.

"Atlas" Research Center closely cooperates with the media, analyzes are regularly published on social networks and websites. The head of the center gives interviews on various topics to Internet television channels, including newspapers and websites, and participates in conferences and seminars organized in foreign countries.
