Why will Lavrov go to Turkey?

Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to visit Turkey on April 27 and participate in the opening of the first stage of the "Akkuyu" nuclear power plant with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Before Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Turkey on April 6-7. According to the information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Lavrov will discuss with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüd Çavuşoğlu the development of cooperation between the two countries, the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the war in Ukraine and the situation in Syria.
This will most likely be Mevlüd Çavuşoğlu's last meeting with Lavrov as a minister. Because Erdogan has announced that a new cabinet will be formed after the presidential and parliamentary elections, and the current ministers will participate in the parliamentary contest. Mevlüd Çavuşoğlu will run for his candidacy from Antalya, where he was born. If Erdogan loses the presidential election, this will be his last meeting with Putin as head of state. The presidential election in Turkey will take place 16 days after the opening of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. Putin wants to continue the journey with Erdogan, he has traveled the ups and downs path with him for more than 20 years and knows the character of his partner. However, even if there will be a different result in the election, that is, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will be elected president, there will be no break in the Turkish-Russian partnership, it will just take time for Putin to get used to the new president and his policies.
