Macron does not want to be a vassal

French President Emmanuel Macron's recent visit to China remains a subject of discussion in US political and expert circles. Washington is of the opinion that this visit is not for the benefit of the West and is not beneficial. Washington believes that the French president is ready to make concessions to China.

After concluding his visit to China, Emmanuel Macron gave a controversial interview about Taiwan and said that being an ally of the United States does not mean being a "vassal". Emmanuel Macron also said that "France is in favor of the current status quo in Taiwan" and is trying to "resolve the situation peacefully".

By this, Macron wanted to say that France and other European countries should not support the US confrontation with China on the issue of Taiwan. However, the purpose of Macron's visit to Beijing was to invite China to abandon its support for Russia. After returning from Beijing, Macron spoke about Taiwan instead of Ukraine. Although Xi Jinping had extensive exchanges of views with Macron, he did not back down from his previous position on the Ukraine issue. It is interesting that after returning from Beijing, Emmanuel Macron began to criticize the policy of the United States, not China.

Macron spoke as a supporter of establishing equal relations between Europe and the United States. This means that Macron does not accept US hegemony in Europe. Macron is in favor of turning Europe into a powerhouse. The French president believes that the time has come for this.

Macron's recent statements have caused great dissatisfaction in the political circles of the United States. Former US President Donald Trump did not hesitate to insult Macron. Republican senator Marco Rubio advised Macron that Europe should support Ukraine without the support of the United States.

Former French leaders also supported Europe's move away from the United States. But they did not produce any results. Because after the Second World War, the United States played a decisive role in the reshaping of Europe, the restoration of its economy and the establishment of a security system, and Washington does not want to give up this role. On the other hand, European countries cannot do without America. For example, when the war broke out in the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, European countries were helpless, and the situation stabilized after the United States intervened. On the other hand, some European countries do not agree with the proposals of the French president. For example, Poland does not plan to abandon its strategic partnership with the United States.
