Washington is forming a new alliance

China's increasing number of military aircraft flights and warships around the island of Taiwan has caused concern in Washington. In mid-January, 5 Chinese warships were registered around Taiwan.

Beijing has been increasing pressure on Taiwan. As a result, Taiwan has placed new anti-aircraft missile installations along the perimeter of the island. In addition, the flights of Taiwan's military aircraft have also increased.

According to former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the possibility of war is high. The former Secretary General of NATO stated the need to increase military aid to Taiwan in order to prevent China's attack.

It is clear that the main and perhaps the only country that will provide military assistance to Taiwan will be the United States. Many countries will not join a war with China over Taiwan. Unfulfilled announcements will be made as usual from Europe. Just as a group of European countries is delaying military aid to the occupied Ukraine, they will also promise so-called support to Taiwan. For example, since Russia started the war against Ukraine, Germany has promised to deliver Leopard tanks to Kiev. Those tanks have not yet been delivered to Ukraine. Kyiv wants Berlin to fulfill its promise. Because delaying military aid reduces Ukraine's resistance to Russia.

The US is trying to get ahead of the events this time. In an article published in the French magazine "Boulevard Voltaire", it was written that Washington is trying to create an alliance with European countries against China. In other words, if China starts a war against Taiwan, the alliance must act against Beijing. In addition to European countries, regional countries - Australia, Japan and India - should also be included in this union. In any case, if war breaks out in the region, the main burden will be on the United States.

Meanwhile, Washington agreed to arm Japan and increase its military budget. The number of military exercises between the United States and Japan will increase. Washington also plans to expand dialogue with Beijing to deter China from military rhetoric. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is scheduled to visit Beijing in February. Blinken will try to dissuade Beijing from using military force against Taiwan.
